Emily Burke

I graduated with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy at Western Sydney University in 2020. Since then, I have gained diverse experience across community settings in Wollongong, Sunshine Coast, and the United Kingdom. These roles have shaped a strong understanding of occupational therapy within community-based practice, along with the ability to adapt to a wide range of client needs. I have worked with individuals across the lifespan with a broad range of diagnoses and disabilities, including:

  • Neurological

  • Degenerative conditions

  • Spinal

  • Palliative care

  • Age-related conditions.

  • Neurodevelopmental conditions (ASD and intellectual disability)

  • Congenital conditions

  • Amputees

  • Orthopaedic

  • Oncology

During my studies, I began working in the NDIS as an Allied Health Assistant, delivering therapy programs for adolescents and adults with physical disabilities under supervision from Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists. This early experience strengthened my appreciation for multidisciplinary collaboration and goal-oriented care. I have since continued working within the NDIS as an Occupational Therapist, alongside experience in a community NHS role in Scotland. Since graduating, my NDIS experience includes providing a range of occupational therapy services to participants, including functional capacity assessments, home modifications, equipment prescription, seating and positioning, home and living assessments, vehicle modifications, pressure care interventions, sensory profile assessments, manual handling assessments and training, and therapeutic interventions. I have strong skills in report writing and advocacy to support clients in securing appropriate funding and achieving meaningful outcomes.

I am a warm, enthusiastic, and curious person, and I value the opportunity to walk alongside you on your journey. Having grown up in Wollongong, I’ve always felt most at home by the coast or in the mountains. Outside of work, you’ll usually find me hiking, travelling in my campervan, training at the gym, finding the best coffee and food spots, or spending time with my friends and family. I am passionate about delivering high quality, community-based occupational therapy services in my hometown.
